Who is fully exempt from PAYE in 2026? +
Under the NTA 2025, individuals earning ₦800,000 or less annually (about ₦66,667/month) pay zero income tax. This is a significant change from the old law which taxed income from the first naira.
What are the new tax brackets? +
The new bands are: 0% on first ₦800k, 15% on ₦800k–₦2.2M, 18% on ₦2.2M–₦9M, 21% on ₦9M–₦18M, 23% on ₦18M–₦26M, and 25% above ₦26M. These apply to taxable income after all reliefs.
Is pension still deductible? +
Yes. Your 8% employee pension contribution remains deductible from gross salary before tax is calculated. NHF (2.5%), NHIS contributions, and qualifying rent payments also remain deductible.
